Sarah Josephine Ekstrom

Sarah J. Ekstrom, 78, of Harcourt, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2017, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge. Private family services will be held at West Lawn Cemetery Lehigh at a later date. For online obituaries and condolences visit: www.carsonstappfuneralhome.com Sarah Josephine Irish was born on October 9, 1938, in Lehigh, Iowa, the daughter of Lawrence and Mary (Ruthart) Irish. She attended Lehigh schools. Sarah was united in marriage to Lyle Ekstrom. To this union six children were born: Lois, Rick, Scott, Randy, Lisa, and Justine. Sarah and Lyle were later divorced. Sarah lived in the Lehigh area her entire life. She was a homemaker, worked as a beautician, and held various other jobs over the years. Sarah enjoyed flowers, gardening, and fishing. She was an animal lover and was especially close to her dogs and cats. Survivors include her children, Lois (Bob) Carlson of Farnhamville, Iowa, Rick (Joanne) Ekstrom of Dayton, Iowa, Scott Ekstrom of Lanyon, Iowa, Randy Ekstrom of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Lisa (Art) Konold of Stanton, Virginia, and Justine Ekstrom of Webster City, Iowa; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; one sister, Betty Wertz of Muskego, Wisconsin; and her companion, Dan Clifford of Harcourt, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Tim Irish, sister, Mary Kreimar, and niece, Roxanne Kreimar. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
