Sarah Elizabeth "Betty" Routledge Wollstein, age 88, of 2891 Callier Springs Road, Rome, GA 30161, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on June 02, 2014.

A native of Rome, GA, Betty was born on September 7, 1925, the daughter of the late Dr. August Fayette Routledge and Ellen Rose Carlin Routledge. Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Leo Arnold Wollstein, Sr. their son John Joseph Wollstein and their grandson Leo Arnold Wollstein III (baby Leo) her sister Nancy Routledge Beard and brother Dr. James Routledge. Betty attended Auburn University in 1942 graduated from Duke University School of Nursing in 1947 and received her Bachelor Degree in Nursing from the Medical College of Georgia in 1977. She received credentialing in Advanced Study in Patient Care Administration from the University of Minnesota in 1981. She worked at Floyd Medical Center from 1948 to 1988 and served as the Director of Nurses until her retirement. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rome, GA.

Survivors include one sister: Ellen Routledge Tate (James), Mt. Pleasant South Carolina; Her children: Ellen Carlin Wyatt (Jack), Richmond August Wollstein (Glenda), Leo Arnold Wollstein, Jr. (Faye), James Michael Wollstein, Rebecca Ann Crews (Tommy), Mary Helene Wollstein, Mary Catherine Wollstein, David Francis Wollstein, Stephen Kirk Wollstein, and Theodore Christopher Wollstein. Her beloved grandchildren: Katie Odom, Eric Wollstein, Natalie Wollstein, Stephen Stahel, Elizabeth Stahel, Claire Wyatt, Jennifer Crews Davis (Hal), T.J. Crews, III., Nicole Jacobs, Adam Wollstein, Rihanna Wollstein, Jay Wollstein One great grandchild: Tripp Davis. Nieces: Dayna Tate Elliott, Susan Routledge, Ellen Routledge Allmond and nephews Steve Tate, Jimmy Tate, and David Routledge.
There are no words that can express the deep sadness we feel in losing Betty, but all of us will remember her guidance, humor, generosity and compassion for others.

At the wishes of Betty, no funeral or memorial services will be held. In
lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to either the Betty R Wollstein Nursing Scholarship payable to Georgia Highlands College Foundation, 3175 Cedartown Highway Rome, GA 30161 or Saint Mary's Catholic School, 401 E. 7th Street, Rome, GA 30161. Daniel's Funeral Home has charge and makes this announcement for the family.

Loved your Mother. She was an excellent example of a nurse that went into nursing because it was a passion, not just a job. She had a great smile and wit. My thoughts are with you at this time.
