Sarah Agnes Headbird, age 63, "Manidoo Ikwe" which means Spirit Woman, of Minneapolis, Minnesota journeyed to the spirit world from her home on October 29th, 2025. She was born on April 25th, 1962, to Shirley Raish and Robert Headbird, Sr.
Sarah was born at Cass Lake IHS and raised in Cass Lake, she attended Cass Lake Schools in her younger years, where she always had perfect attendance. In 1981 she married Theodore Wind, Jr. and together they had 4 children. In 1982 they made Minneapolis their home.
Sarah was a free-spirited woman who loved her family and friends fiercely. She was always willing to help anywhere she could. Sarah loved her animals especially her Tianna "T-Baby". Her personality was very humorous; she loved to tell jokes and play tricks on everyone. She was kind, gentle, loved nature and was a very forgiving person. She enjoyed reading books, drawing and coloring, bringing her artistic skills out, she also enjoyed playing her candy crush, bubble blast and doing puzzles. Sarah also made the best frybread ever and never minded cooking.
She loved all her 33 nieces and nephews and her 66 great nieces and nephews in her own individual ways, remembering each one of them, always having a hug and a way to make them smile.
Her niece Sarah "Sissy" Seelye and daughter-in-law Cylicia Wind helped care for her during her last few years, taking time to brush and braid her hair and making sure she was taken care of properly.
When Sarah's granddaughter Nevaeh Kingbird went missing, she spent her time helping to look for her, being an advocate for Nevaeh before passing. She spent many years helping take care of Nevaeh during her younger years when she was small. Sarah loved her grandkids a lot, she would always be "babysat" by her grandkids rather than her babysitting them, they made her happy.
Sarah will be deeply missed by her children, grandkids, great-grandkids, family, and loved ones. She will always be remembered as the silly beautiful person she was, who always always had a smile for everyone.
Family that Sarah is reunited with in the spirit world are her parents, Shirley and Robert Sr.; sister, Roberta Headbird; brother, Cowboy; niece, Jami Headbird; nephews; Conrad and Ryan Buckanaga and Kenneth Rodriguez, Jr.; unborn grandchildren and many other loved ones.
Those left behind to forever cherish her memory are her children, Tony (Cylicia) Wind, Daniel (Cheyanne) Wind, Russell Wind, and Teddi (Michael R.) Wind; sisters, Robin (Neil) Buckanaga, Marlene (John) Johnson, Shari (Blaine) Headbird-Archambault, Sandra Headbird, Alana Gross, Adeline Wind, and Debbie Gleason; brothers, Robert (Maureen) Headbird, Jr., and Alan (Julie) Gross, Jr.; 13 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and special friends, Mark S., Redsky Bad Moccasin, and Jeff Armstrong, nieces, nephews and many more family members and friends.
