Sarah Cox Mitchell of Greensburg, Kentucky, daughter of the late Percy Napoleon Cox and Mary Lou Calhoon Cox, was born on Monday, August 15, 1938 in Green County and departed this life on Monday, December 15, 2025 at Jane Todd Crawford Hospital. She was 87 years and 4 months of age.
She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher for many years. She retired from Edmonton Manufacturing as a production line worker after 32 years.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years: Charles Willard Mitchell, having united in marriage on June 27, 1958.
Other survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law: Charles Phillip Mitchell and Charlotte Scott of Summersville, Mike Mitchell and Ree Shanna of Greensburg; four grandchildren: Gabriel and Kara Mitchell of Summersville, Luke Mitchell, Parker Mitchell both of Greensburg, Emily and Clint Gibbs of Richmond; one great-grandchild: Kaylor Gibbs of Richmond; two brothers: Harold Cox of Georgia, Ed Cox of Green County; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by a grandchild: Blake Mitchell; one sister: Opal Smith; two brothers: Bobby Cox and Percy Cox Jr.
The funeral service for Sarah Cox Mitchell will be conducted at 1 P.M., Central Time, Friday, December 19, 2025 at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church with burial to follow in the Ebenezer Cemetery.
Visitation is requested after 10 A.M., Central Time, Friday at the church until time of the service.
Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
The family has requested that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Gideon Bible Fund which can be made at the funeral home.
