Sarah Vandeveer age 89, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away on August 14, 2025. Sarah is survived by her daughter, Valerie Bennett; grandchildren Tate Prue, Brian Prue and Joseph Prue; siblings and Honorary Pallbearers, Robert Aranda and wife, Anna, Richard Aranda and wife, Cecilia, Joe Aranda and wife, Theresa, Manny Aranda and wife, Angie, Helen Joy Madrid and husband, Augustine, Patty Garcia, Azelle Garcia and Martin Aranda; sister in-law, Lorraine Calles-Aranda. Sarah was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon Lopez Hammond; parents Tony and Helen Aranda, brother Ross Aranda; brother Pete Aranda and wife, Dee, and brother in-laws, Al Garcia, and Salvador Garcia; and her "side-kick, Joel Garcia. She was a devout catholic and was a longtime member of the Catholic Church. Sarah and worked for many years in the administrative office at West Mesa High School. She also volunteered feeding and caring for the Feral Cats at Los Altos. She could never see a cat be hungry. She was dearly loved by her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A Visitation for Sarah will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 9:30 a.m. and a Mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. all to be held at Holy Ghost Catholic Church 833 Arizona St. SE with burial to take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery 1900 Edith Blvd NE. A special thanks to the Carefree Living Long Term Facility for their care of Sarah. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to www.kindredspiritsnm.org ( a specialty care facility for aging pets) or you may mail your donations to, 3749-A State Rd. 14 Santa Fe, New Mexico 87508, phone 505-471-5366.
