Hooper Memorial Home Inc.Sarah Louise Wilkinson, 63, of Steelton, Pennsylvania, was called home by the Lord on Saturday, November 15th, after a 3-year battle with Ovarian Cancer at the Harrisburg Hospital, surrounded by friends and family.
Sarah was born on February 1st, 1962, in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. She grew up in Gardners, Pennsylvania, and attended South Middleton Schools. She later moved to Steelton and attended Harrisburg Area Community College, where she earned her Nursing Assistant Certification.
Sarah devoted nearly 30 years of her life to caring for people. She worked as a CNA at the former Dauphin Manor nursing home, Spring Creek, Harrisburg Hospital, and Golden Living of West Shore. She made a career change 3 years ago and began working in the mental health field as a Behavioral Health Specialist at the Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute. Her gift and love of caring for people extended beyond her professional life. She loved everyone and often put others before herself. She was the type of person who would do anything for anyone. Sarah will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, selflessness, the ability to light up any room, and her unwavering love.
Sarah was an avid reader. She loved pigs and all things PURPLE. In her free time, in addition to reading, she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, watching her soap operas, shopping, spending time with family and friends, going out to eat, and relaxing on her porch (especially during thunderstorms).
Sarah was preceded in death by her father, Guillermo Muniz, and two brothers (Johnny and Gregory Torres).
She is survived by her mother Shirley Torres, brother Billy Torres (Samantha), daughter Sonya Blanco, two son’s Hector Blanco (Lori) and Miguel Blanco, her SPECIAL grandson Javion Evans who she nicknamed “Frank” several years ago, two other grandsons (Myles and Manuel Blanco), granddaughter Evalisse Blanco, her best friend of 35 years Sandy Rogers Danforth; and a host of aunts/uncles, cousins, nieces/nephews and friends.
Sarah will be missed by all who knew and loved her!
Funeral services will take place at Hooper Memorial Home in Harrisburg, and burial will be at Mt. Victory Cemetery in Gardeners. Flowers may be sent to Hooper Memorial Home.
