Savannah Jo Helget (5), or Savvy Jo as everyone lovingly called her, passed into eternity at 11:11am on August 6th, 2024 after a five year struggle with an undiagnosed neuromuscular disorder. She was surrounded with love by her parents, her older sisters, younger brother, and her puppy in her final moments.
She was born in Minneapolis to Jeff & Lacy Helget on May 31st, 2019, and she spent five months in the NICU before coming home to live with her family. The severe nature of her disorder left her very fragile, but her parents did their best to give Savvy as many experiences as possible. These experiences included pool parties, swim therapy, preschool, holidays with family, tasting Thanksgiving meals, a pontoon ride in the summer, visiting the apple orchard in the fall, respite stays at Crescent Cove, dressing up for Halloween, seeing the glacial potholes at Interstate State Park, attending one of her brother's ultrasounds, and countless walks through the neighborhood with mom and dad.
Savvy spent many of her days cuddled up with her cat Molly and her dog Macy. She loved her devoted nursing staff, and enjoyed getting snuggled up in warm blankets, receiving massages, playing games, dancing, singing, making art, and having books read to her by them.
Savvy is survived by her parents Jeff & Lacy Helget, siblings, Aurora, Bella, and Emery, and her grandparents Gary Hanson and Tom & Linda Helget.
She is preceded in death by her Nana, Susie Hanson.
Her sweetness was infectious and felt by all.
We are broken, but she is whole.
