Miss Savitri (Sita) Gopie, aged 66, from Port St. Lucie, passed away on January 3, 2026, after bravely battling kidney disease.
Born in Trinidad and Tobago, she emigrating to New York City in 1978 at the age of 18. In New York, Savitri pursued her education and earned a business degree. She worked as a teller for Ridge Check Cashing and resided in New York for 29 years. In 2007, she moved to Port St. Lucie, FL to assist her father in caring for her youngest sister, Maria. Savitri dedicated 17 years to a career in healthcare.
A compassionate individual, Savitri volunteered her time by cooking for others, donating food and clothing to her parish, and always lending a helping hand to those in need. Cooking brought her immense joy, as she believed that food symbolized happiness.
Savitri is survived by her father, Mulchan; her five brothers, Heeralal, Ramchand, Suresh, Chunilal, Mahin; her sister, Sati; and her best friend, Helen, who was also her caregiver and steadfast support throughout her life.
She had a strong presence in her nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews lives. Savitri will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
Services will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm at Haisley Funeral Home, Fort Pierce.
