Scott Amick Obituary
Scott Amick
Scott Amick, 58, of Brunswick, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2025. He was surrounded by his loving family after a valiant battle with cancer.
Scott was born on Nov. 17, 1966, in Albany, to the late Gary and Bettianne Amick.
Scott is survived by his devoted wife of 34 years, Susan Amick; daughter, Hayley Amick McGee (Trey); granddaughter, Colette Elizabeth McGee; his brother, Mark Amick (Sheila); his parents-in-law, Jimmy and Norma Cowan; and many treasured aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his nephew, Stephen Amick.
As the son of an Air Force serviceman, Scott lived in many cities across the United States and in London, England, before his family eventually settled in Brunswick. He was a proud graduate of Brunswick High School, Class of 1985. For 23 years, he worked as an RSR with Frito-Lay, during which he built countless friendships and strong connections throughout the Golden Isles community. He was well known for his warm smile and easygoing nature.
A man of deep faith, Scott was a member of Marshes of Glynn Baptist Church and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior as a young boy. His faith was the foundation of his marriage, his family life and the friendships he built. This foundation of trust in God's promises is what brought him peace in his most difficult days.
Scott's passions included kayaking with his wife, cheering on his beloved Georgia Bulldogs, watching his Falcons play on Sundays, traveling, woodworking, fishing and spending time with friends and family. He especially cherished weekly dinners with close friends, fondly known as "the supper club."
During his cancer journey, Scott's greatest blessing was the steadfast devotion of his wife, Susan. She was by his side for appointments, treatments and difficult days, and together they faced each challenge with courage and steadfast love.
Scott will be remembered for his warm hugs, loving smile and the way he never met a stranger. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. Even after cancer robbed him of his ability to speak, he never let it stop him from interacting with his many friends, family and church family. He had a continuous smile, even through all the hard times that cancer brought upon him. Scott trusted that God had a plan, and his job was to follow it. His unwavering positivity was a reflection of his deep faith, and he never allowed hardship to shake his faith.
Scott is also survived by a daughter, Ashley Rella; and her three children.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, Sept. 26, 2025, at Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. and the funeral service will follow at 2 p.m.
The family wishes to thank Hospice of the Golden Isles for their compassionate care, especially Jaime Gurnsey R.N., Amy Tracy and Scott's beloved niece, Sarah Amick, along with Dr. Abraham Cheong, Dr. Timothy Jamieson and their staff.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the building fund of Marshes of Glynn Baptist Church, 3780 U.S. Highway 82, Brunswick,GA 31523.
Arrangements are entrusted to Brunswick Memorial Park Cemetery and Funeral Home.
