Scott Edward Dawick, 68, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 31, 2025. He was born on November 19, 1956, in Meriden, Connecticut, the son of the late Edward and Audrey (Erikson) Dawick.
Scott was an avid outdoorsman, forever seeking adventure across the globe. From hiking, biking, kayaking, and skiing, he never missed an opportunity to feel the ground beneath his feet and the sun on his face. He had more miles on his hiking boots than on his car and delighted in sharing his adventurous spirit and love of the outdoors with his family. He loved to travel, often chasing the raw beauty of wild landscapes around the world-and occasionally, the next Metallica concert.
A proud member of the National Ski Patrol for 49 years, Scott devoted himself to service with passion and joy. He also proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, where he was honored with a Purple Heart. Professionally, Scott was the owner and operator of Retrobeam LLC, where his expertise as an electrical engineer made him highly respected and sought after.
Scott was also a lifelong motorcycle enthusiast, with a special love for his 1976 Triumph, which he lovingly restored many times over the years.
As varied as his interests were, nothing brought him greater joy than being a father and grandfather. His deep love and devotion for his family were the heart of who he was. He was a loving and beloved father and Granpapa, and will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Jamie Gilbert, and her husband Timothy of Barkhamsted; his cherished granddaughters, Sage and Fayelina Gilbert; his stepdaughter, Nikki Knudsen, and her husband Mark of Winchester; his sister, Lori Dawick of Durham; his brother, Mark Dawick; his nephew, Jason Korn of New Haven; and his great-aunt, Debbie Erickson. He also leaves behind his loyal canine companion, Leo, who will continue to be loved and spoiled by his daughter and granddaughters.
Scott's adventurous spirit, warm heart, and boundless love for life will live on in all who knew and loved him.

I Knew Scott for many years and also worked many a day with him sharing stories about our motorcycles. He was a great engineer in the EB welding field.I will miss him. Maybe some day we will met on the wall and do a little fishing. RIP my friend.

We lived a few doors down from Scott and would talk to him occasionally. He was such a nice man and one of the best neighbors to have. He and my husband Mark bonded over their love of the outdoors and Scott expressed a desire to go skiing with him this winter. We are shocked and saddened beyond belief that Scott is no longer here but feel some comfort in knowing he left doing what he loved which was being in the outdoors. We send our condolences to his family. May he RIP.
