Scott Anthony Fisher, 56, of Sylva, went to be with the Lord after a courageous eight month battle with cancer.
He was a lifelong resident of Jackson County and was a son of the late Larry and Ella Mae Fisher. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Grover and AvaNell Fisher and Odell and Effie Monteith; along with many uncles and aunts.
To have known Scott was a true privilege...a one of a kind person. Scott enjoyed family get togethers, Dollywood, Bingo, and traveling with family and friends. Scott loved all animals, especially his dachshunds....Jackson, Ace, Rudy, Roscoe, Sebastian, and River.
Scott enjoyed farming, cattle sales, and teaching his niece and nephews about farming and putting up hay. He graduated from Sylva Webster High School in 1987. Scott was employed at Jackson County Health Department for the past number of years, where he was recently promoted to Lab Supervisor this year. He enjoyed all aspects of the lab and treating patients.
He is survived by a brother, David Fisher of Sylva; sister, Becky Sellers (Chris) and Courtney Haines (Joey); a niece and nephews, who meant the world to him, Trent and Shea Sellers, Lane Flesch, and L J Haines; and many other family members along with his special friends, Emily Campbell, Jerri Ann Brooks, Linda Smith, Darlene Robinson, Dell Pittman, and Melany Shults.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, December 5, 2025 at Scotts Creek Baptist Church with the Reverend Scott Kapple and Reverend J. D. Grant officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
At other times, the family will be at Chris and Becky Sellers' home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the jackson County Animal Shelter or the American Cancer Society.
