Scott Louis Gonzalez, age 65, of Tampa, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at St. Joseph's Hospital after courageously facing an aggressive illness over the past three months. Scott was born in Tampa on February 18, 1960, to Louis and Josephine (Hoenstein) Gonzalez.

Scott devoted his life to serving his community, building a respected career as a firefighter with several departments throughout Hillsborough County. He eventually retired from Tampa Fire Station 8.

In his spare time, Scott enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family-especially at the beach, where many of his favorite memories were made. He was a generous and selfless man who would do anything for anyone in need, and his kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Scott is survived by his loving wife, Eunice Denise Gonzalez; his children, Jamie Gonzalez, Kasie Gonzalez, and Scotty Comparetto; five grandchildren; his siblings, Swain Hoenstein and Stephanie Hoenstein; his uncle, Richard Garcia; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

A memorial service to honor Scott's life will be held on Monday, December 1, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Florida Mortuary Funeral and Cremation Service, 4601 N. Nebraska Ave., Tampa, FL 33603.

My name is Raymond H Lewis, I had a wonderful blessing in my life of considering Scotty as my family and my best friend for decades. I love him dearly.
He taught me so many things about life when I had really no other living relatives The best and most fun times of my life I could say I had with Scotty. He was an angel on earth. I spent many happy hours with him and talking to his mother Josephine at their home. He took wonderful care of her there. I loved being with them, and I would´ve done anything in the world for Scotty. We called each other family.

We laughed and laughed and smiled together, even when we were doing work or chores. I´m so proud of him because of the man he was and because of his service to our community.

I am a much better man because of knowing Scotty he gave me wonderful advice and to move on in life and better myself. What an incredible standup man loving and kind to me always.

It was my absolute gift and
greatest honor to help him these last months to come whenever he called and to stay with him at his home whenever he asked me to during his recent courageous times.

Scotty, you are with your mom right now and I know we talked about how happy you were going to be to see her again. I will try to live my life the way you told me I love you my best buddy, Ray Lewis.
