Donald “Scott” Johnson, age 80, of Mountain City, TN passed away on Tuesday evening, September 19, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family. Scott was born in Johnson County, TN on September 30, 1942 to the late Don Allen Johnson and Geneva Belle Edminston Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Allen Johnson and Odell Johnson.
Scott loved the Lord and his church family at First Baptist Church. Over his life he touched many lives as a witness for the Lord. He was a well-known supporter of the Johnson County Longhorns and served as a school volunteer for several years. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also liked wood-working and made a variety of gifts for people. Scott loved his family and his grandsons dearly. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army.
Scott was a member of First Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 55 years, Linda Johnson; daughter, Lisa J. Crowder and husband Jeff; grandsons, Laighthyn Crowder and Taryn Crowder; brothers, Frank Johnson (Betty) and Glenn “Cotton” Johnson (Shirley); special friend, Brenda Eggers; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 22, 2023 from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Mike McNutt, Pastor Frank Johnson and Pastor Steven Spencer officiating. Military honors will follow the funeral service and will be accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers are Frank and Barbara Arnold, Charlie and Brenda Roark, Anita Smiley, Jerry Horne, and Carol Shores.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Johnson County Cancer Support Group, 3510 Hwy 421 N., Mountain City, TN 37683 or the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
At other times friends may call at the home, 4172 Hwy 67 W, Mountain City, TN, 37683.
