Scott Johnson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 30, 2025.

Scott Franklin Johnson passed away on September 27, 2025, at the age of 72, after a courageous battle with cancer and COPD.

Scott proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for three years, stationed in Germany, where his skill as a sharpshooter earned him multiple medals and commendations.

After returning home, Scott began a career as an over-the-road truck driver, logging an incredible five million miles without ever having a single accident.

Scott’s creativity and craftsmanship were evident in everything he built. He designed and constructed his own home, then later challenged himself to build a treehouse perched 30 feet high in the pines, complete with a winding, intricate stairway. He especially loved sitting in that treehouse during a storm. Scott went on to build an octagon-shaped guest house, a marble-seated fire pit, and countless other projects that reflected his ingenuity and vision.

A man of many talents and passions, Scott was a superior cribbage player, an avid card player, and loved the challenge of shooting pool. He enjoyed time on the golf course, hunting for agates, and feeding the deer and other wildlife that wandered into his yard. In his later years, he found joy in crafting beautiful black willow canes, each one unique and made with care.

Scott lived a life that blended hard work, service, creativity, and play. He will be remembered for his stories, his laughter, his craftsmanship, and the many lives he touched along the way.

Scott is survived by his mother MaryJane Johnson-Oddson (Hap DeMesy); his brother Eric Johnson of Hope, Alaska. He was a beloved uncle to two nieces; Dakotah Fujan Burke, of Anchorage, Alaska, and Shaya Cywinski of Chandler, Arizona. He is also survived by his ex-wife Judy Johnson. He is also survived by many cousins, all of whom will cherish his memory.

Scott is preceded in death by his father, Frank Johnson; his brothers, Randy Johnson, and Tim Johnson; sister, Deborah Johnson; three uncles, Bruce, Terry and Jeff Oddson; and aunt, Sandra Jenson.

A Family celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Pequot Lakes.
