Scott Johnson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Aria Cremation Service and Funeral Home - Northwest Highway on Jan. 23, 2026.
Scott Allan Johnson, 62, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026 at his Lake Highlands home with his family by his side after a short but mighty battle with metastatic melanoma.

Born the second of three children to William and Margaret Anne Johnson on October 26, 1963, Scott spent much of his childhood outdoors and playing sports. Known to his childhood friends as "Bugg," he helped the 1981 Lake Highlands Wildcat football team win the program's first state title, a feat he never got tired of talking about. A proud Texas Longhorn, Scott was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and was a Texas Cowboy before graduating from UT with a business degree in 1986. Scott cheered the Longhorns on in every sport tirelessly! He returned to Dallas where he worked in real estate for the rest of his life. He married his college sweetheart Michelle McFadden on November 18, 1989 in Midland, Texas.

A devoted father of two, Scott lived all 62 years of his short life to the fullest. He loved coaching his kids throughout their lives, first in various sports then later in everything from pickleball to grilling meats to financial planning. More than anything, Scott loved to be around his family and friends, of which he had many far and wide. He had the rare gift of building community wherever he went. He touched the lives of many with his profound sense of humor, warmth and gregarious, outgoing nature. The life of every party, he was funny, inquisitive, always eager to help, and loved spending time outdoors skinning and hiking with his dog Nelly, playing golf and pickleball and bobbing in the ocean in Kauai.

Scott is preceded in death by his parents, William and Margaret Anne Johnson, and his father-in-law, Ronald McFadden. He is survived by his wife, Michelle Johnson, children, Mary Margaret Januszkiewicz and Matthew Johnson, son-in-law John Januszkiewicz, daughter-in-law Samantha Johnson, and granddaughter Emmie Rose Januszkiewicz, as well as his brother Steven Johnson and sister Connie Johnson Funk.

A lifelong member of Highland Park United Methodist Church, the funeral will be held on Monday, February 2 at 3 pm at HPUMC. In lieu of flowers, his family asks that donations go to the American Cancer Society for melanoma research.
