David Scott Lake "Scott", 65, of Fargo, ND passed away on September 19, 2025.
David Scott Lake was born on April 29, 1960 in Evergreen Park, IL to Eugene & Janet (Poppa) Lake, later Janet Slavik.
He was raised in Villa Park, IL with his parents and older brother Steve. Scott graduated from Montini Catholic, Lombard, IL in 1978. He achieved four varsity letters in football and baseball. Scott attended Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, FL and graduated in 1982 with a Bachelor's degree in business. Executive sales brought Scott to Fargo in 1986 where he met his partner, Brenda Mehus and three step-daughters.
He worked in executive sales for over 30 years before retiring in 2014. Scott was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, no matter what their record was. He loved spending time with his partner, three step-daughters, and grandchildren. Scott loved to go on vacations with his family and watch his grandkids' activities.
Scott is survived by his partner, Brenda Mehus, Fargo, ND; step-daughters, Nicole (Troy) Mehus-Jensen, Detroit lakes, MN, Stephanie (Adam) Nelson, Fargo, ND, Elizabeth Mehus-Waller (Troy Thomson), Fargo, ND; brother, Steve (Cindy) Lake, Peoria, AZ; nephew, Tyler (Ashley) Lake, Raleigh, NC; niece, Alyssa Lake, Pensacola, FL; and nine grandchildren, Lily, Brynn, Ella, CJ, Kasa, Deja, Trey and Calvyn.
He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Lake; mother, Janet Slavik; and stepfather, Robert Slavik.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, with a visitation one hour prior. The service will be livestreamed on the funeral home website.
