Scott McMaster Obituary

Scott Wiker McMaster

December 28, 1929 - February 14, 2025

On February 14, 2025, Scott McMaster made his final ride into the sunset, entering the open meadows of heaven after a life on earth well lived.

Scott Wiker McMaster was born on December 28, 1929, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Willard and Charlotte McMaster. He was the youngest of three children, a sister, Janet and a brother, Galen. His love for horses and the outdoors began as he and Galen, being only one year apart, shared many adventures exploring the Magic Valley. They especially enjoyed spending time with Janet and her husband, Ross, who shared their love of adventure and the outdoors.

After graduating from Hansen High School, he attended one year of college at the University of Idaho before returning to Hansen and marrying his high school sweetheart, Nadine Wilbourn, on May 22, 1949. They had two children, Lynn and Cheri, and lived on the family farm until they bought their own farm in Kimberly in 1962. Scott continued to farm the Kimberly and Hansen properties until he retired in his early 80s. Scott and Nadine had been married 73 years when she passed in September of 2022.

In 95 years of life, Scott brightened the lives of all those he met along the trail. He will be remembered by so many for his cheerful greeting, warm handshake, and ever-present smile. He was a fourth-generation farmer, a true cowboy, a skilled hunter, and an expert trail finder. His legacy lives on through those who call him Dad, Gramps, Uncle Scott, friend, and one of the good ol' boys.

Scott was preceded in death by his wife, Nadine; his brother, Galen; his sister, Janet; and his son-in-law, Richard Schneider. He is survived by his children, Lynn (Kathy) McMaster and Cheri Schneider; grandchildren, Jennifer (Brian) Whipple, Jay (Jenni) McMaster, Scott (Kaylyn) Schneider, and Carly (Jim) Hammer; as well as nine great-grandchildren.

Scott's family would like to express their sincere and heartfelt gratitude to the staff and residents of Chardonnay Assisted Living for their care and friendship during his years there, and to the staff of Visions Home Health for their hospice care and support in the final days of Scott's life.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Wilks Magic Valley Funeral Home, 2551 Kimberly Road, Twin Falls, Idaho 83301 at 1 p.m.

Scott and Nadine were dear, dear friends of my Dad, Byron Sims. I remember going to Scott and Nadine´s farm when we were little kids and running around like chickens set free! Scott put me up on one of his big horses when we visited one time, let me plod along, and made me feel like a real cowgirl. On any given day you could see him at Traveler´s Oasis having coffee with the boys! No matter how long it had been, every time I would see him he always remembered me by name, even though I hadn´t seen him for many, many years. He would always say, "I´d know one of Byron´s kids anywhere." Even though his memory faded as time went on he always remembered my Dad. He and Nadine were salt-of-the-earth people and genuine in every aspect of their lives. You don´t meet many people like them anymore. I´ll never forget the kindness and love they showed us. My Dad fondly called him "the brother he never had" and loved him deeply. Scott, rest in peace with your beloved Nadine. Beautiful sunsets are yours for eternity.
