Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, & Receptions - Beavercreek ChapelScott Raymond Moore, born on August 17, 1965, in the bustling metropolis of Peoria, IL, has decided that it was time to trade his earthly costume collection for a heavenly one. After having lived a life filled with laughter, love, and just a pinch of chaos, Scott took his leave on January 25, 2026, in Dayton, Ohio while peacefully surrounded by his family. Rumor has it, he left this world demanding to know who had the audacity to steal his favorite stool at the VFW.
A devoted Technical Writer for The United States Air Force, Scott’s life was a mix of seriousness and shenanigans. He served valiantly in three wars and 16 countries—as long as you’re counting Texas as a country, which he adamantly did. Who knew that after dodging missiles and maneuvering through military jargon, he’d be just as skilled at cracking jokes? His humor was as reliable as his service record; “at least he thought he was funny,” folks would say, chuckling through the haze of his unapologetic bad jokes.
When Scott wasn’t protecting our freedoms or crafting “light reading” for high-ranking officers, he was the life of whatever party you could find: whether it was wearing outrageous costumes that might have screamed “midlife crisis” or proving that he could down a beer faster than anyone at the VFW. You’d often find him rooting for his beloved Cubbies—because really, if you can’t wear a jersey and shout at your TV, what’s the point of life?
Scott is lovingly remembered by his wife, Lisa, who may still be attempting to score a refund on the matching outfits he convinced her to wear. His children, Adam (Erin) Moore, Ariel (Raymond) Moore, Holden “Buddy” Moore, and Liam Moore now have even more amusing stories to share about their dad.
He is also survived by his sister, Mary, who can now relive all those family gatherings where Scott was trying (and often failing) to be the comedic genius he believed himself to be. Blessed with many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends, his legacy is forever interwoven in newfound laughter and fond memories that echo like his legendary punchlines.
Scott joins his beloved parents, Nicholas and Louise Moore, and his brother, Vincent Moore, in whatever heavenly realm they might have established—one where the Cubbies are always winning, the costumes never run out, and the beer flows like the Mississippi.
In closing, we take heart in knowing that Scott has transitioned to a place where every day is a comedy. His proudest accomplishments were undoubtedly related to his family and friends, and as they gather to share a toast in his honor, we hope they remember that it’s okay to laugh, especially if everyone’s wearing some wild costume Scott would surely approve of!
A celebration of life for Scott will be held at VFW Post 8312 (2389 Dayton Xenia Rd) on Saturday February 14, 2026 from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm.
