LEXINGTON — Scott Powell, 67, passed away on May 7, 2025, in Lexington, South Carolina. Born on March 23, 1958, in Warrenton, Virginia, Scott lived a life defined by service, adventure, and deep devotion to his family.
From a young age, Scott was drawn to a life of purpose and challenge. He joined the United States Coast Guard directly after high school and dedicated 24 years to serving his country with distinction. Rising to the rank of Chief Petty Officer, Scott's career included specialized training in rescue swimming and sniper school—testaments to his courage and commitment. His time in the Coast Guard reflected not only his skill but also his unwavering sense of duty.
After retiring from military service, Scott transitioned into civilian life with the same work ethic and determination that had marked his military career. He worked in food manufacturing as an ammonia technician, continuing to contribute meaningfully through his technical expertise.
Scott's zest for life extended far beyond his professional accomplishments. He was an avid motorcycle rider who embraced every opportunity for an adrenaline rush—except for jumping out of airplanes or dangling from helicopters, which he wisely left to others. He also found joy beneath the waves as a scuba diving enthusiast.
Family was central to Scott's life. He is survived by his beloved wife Tina; son Nicholas Powell and daughter-in-law Shannon Powell; daughter Coreen Lee and son-in-law Robbie Lee; stepson Gabriel Archer and stepdaughter-in-law Yuko Archer; grandchildren Amber Fraielli, Michaela Prucha, Lilyann Montreuil, Mara Powell, Benjamin Powell, Anakin Lee, and Atlas Lee; step-granddaughters Manae Archer and Ami Archer; mother Marge McShera; sister Sharon Hoover; and brother Steven Powell.
He was preceded in death by his father Nelson Powell and sister Sandy Powell-McAndrews.
Scott's legacy is one of strength, loyalty, and adventure. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him best—from fellow servicemembers who stood beside him during challenging missions to family members who shared in his laughter and love.

Tina and Family, I only knew Scott for a few years through work @ KHC. I thoroughly enjoyed conversations with him. He was a pleasure to work with. I am deeply so for his passing.

Scott grew up with us in our neighborhood and was very often at our house. He was a great kid. It is evident he also became a great patriot, citizen and family man. What a wonderful tribute to Scott and his family. With deepest sympathy for your loss.

Scott taught me so much we started out as neighbors and it turned into a true friendship. He's my son's God father. When all my friends left he was there and always a phone call away. I will miss our motorcycle rides. But most of all his humor and loving spirit.
