Scott Rutherford Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 11, 2026.
Scott Rutherford passed away Sunday afternoon, March 1, 2026, after an 8-year battle with Parkinson's Disease. Scott was born January 13, 1943, to Georgia Marie Arnold and Cecil Lewis Rutherford on Griffin Road in Carrollton, Georgia. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Baker Rutherford; daughter, Susan (Steve Nichols); son Alan (Sue Erickson); daughter, Laura Crisp; grandson, Ethan Crisp, and cousin, Linda Barnett Staton (John).

Scott attended Carrollton High School (Class of 1961), received a degree in Mechanical Engineering at Georgia Tech, and completed his MBA at Georgia State. He enjoyed returning to Carrollton for his High School Reunions and maintained his Carrolton friendships throughout his life. He married Linda Baker in June,1967 and took a job with Standard Oil in Pascagoula, MS. They moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1971 where he worked for Georgia Power and Automatic Sprinkler and then on to Knoxville, Tennessee in 1975 where he eventually started his own fire sprinkler company.

Scott truly loved being a husband and father. He loved to camp, fish, hike, and play tennis with family and friends. Scott attended Carrollton Presbyterian church as a young man and was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Knoxville where he served as an elder and was very active for over 50 years. He was a kind and caring man who will be dearly missed. May he rest peacefully in the embrace of Heaven.
