Many knew him best as Smitty, Buddy, or Scooter passed away unexpectedly at the youthful age of 51, on October 12, 2023. His parents preceded him, Ron, and Carolyn (Dant). Scott was a loving husband to Rachel (Keller); the proud father of Owen (11) and Aubrey (9); a generous and loyal friend to many; baby brother to two sisters and five brothers (Tim, Cindy, Steve, Dan, Chuck, Mike, Cathy); and the fun Uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Scott had a remarkable football career earning All-City honors in high school before accepting an athletic scholarship to the University of Cincinnati. Class of 95, under coaches Murphy- Minter. Scott was always modest in discussing his accomplishments but was never bashful watching and rooting for his beloved Bearcats.

Throughout the years Scott worked in the travel nursing industry. This is what led him to his second family at TRS, as the VP of Recruiting.

Scott was physically imposing and intense. Those who truly knew him saw past his size and were able to see his intensity as passion; for what he believed in whether it was family, work, or football. How he valued his friends as family, loved unconditionally, was remarkably intelligent, thoughtful, and selfless.

Scott gave the best hugs, had the best Smitty’isms you will hear for years to come, and the best person you could ever have had in your life. The sun has set on an amazing life that will truly be missed by all he touched.

A private family service will take place November 10th. A public Celebration of Life, for all who knew and loved Scott, is set for Saturday, November 11th at Grainworks Brewing Co. in West Chester, OH. Time to be determined by the U.C./Houston game.

In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring Scott’s memory by contributing to Owen and Aubrey’s college fund at Ugift529.com (57B-J8G for Owen and J42-P5M for Aubrey).
