Scott Sollee Obituary

Scott Steven Sollee
08/23/1956 - 11/18/2025
Scott Steven Sollee (69) of Midland, passed away on November 18, 2025. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Midland at 2pm on Friday, December 12, 2025.
Born on August 23, 1956 to Robert and Catherine (Ruez) Sollee, Scott grew up in Santa Monica with his brothers Jeff and Rod. A true "California boy" at heart, he loved the beach and developed a lifelong passion for volleyball. He continued his volleyball career at the University of Southern California while pursuing a degree in petroleum engineering. While at USC, Scott and his team won the NCAA Men's Volleyball National Championship in 1977 and 1980, first as a player then as an assistant coach. This special group of men stayed in touch and celebrated reunions, shared memories, and major life events. Also at USC, Scott met and married Sheri Morrison (currently Sheri Lingnau). They raised three wonderful boys while living all over the world. Though his work was exciting, his true joys in his life were his boys: Steven, Michael, and David. In his later years, he took on his favorite title of all – Papa. He became truly alive when doting on his beautiful granddaughters - Annabelle, Nora, and Harper - and his darling grandsons - Matthew and Hutch. Scott also loved his grand-dogs Boss (Steve's) and Blaze (Michael's). He spent many weekends with Blaze while Michael's family traveled and hosted Boss for a year while Steven was deployed.
Scott is survived by his son Steven and wife Jane, and their girls Nora and Harper of Charlottesville, Virginia; his son Michael and wife Elizabeth, and their children Annabelle and Matthew of Midland; his son David and partner Nori, and his son Hutch of Austin; Sheri and Derek Lingnau of Kingwood, Texas, and friends new and old.
Scott is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jeff.
The family would like to express their gratitude towards Dillon Ferguson and First Presbyterian Church for help with service arrangements, friends who have helped Scott's family during this time, and all who were part of Scott's life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Springboard Center at 200 Corporate Dr, Midland, TX 79705.
Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland, TX. Online condolences may be made at www.npwelch.com.
