Scott Switlick Obituary

Scott Charles Switlick, 57, of Ringgold, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 2, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
He was born in Johnstown, a son of Josephine (Olexy) Switlick and the late Charles Switlick.
Scott was a 1986 graduate of Marion Center High School. He later attended Northern Virginia Community College where he was awarded the most outstanding 1st year student in his carpentry program. He completed his education then brought his skills back to his hometown.
Scott worked as a self-employed carpenter whose skill and reputation spoke louder than an advertisement ever could. Known for his craftsmanship, honesty and attention to detail, word of mouth kept him busy year-round.
He was a quiet man with a kind heart, always putting others before himself and finding joy in simple acts of kindness. An avid philanthropist, Scott donated to countless charities quietly throughout his life. Though he didn't seek attention, his gentle nature spoke volumes, especially in the way he cared for animals-he had a soft spot for cats, and they seemed to know it. He enjoyed the company of his three cats, Rainpaws, Maximus and Lilac and he deeply mourned the passing of his dear cat Klanzi.
Scott found great comfort and friendship with his long-term companion, Lisa Waldron.
They shared laughter, memories and special moments through their twenty-five years of friendship.
His steadfast presence will be dearly missed.
Beneath his quiet demeanor was a funny side, he loved to joke and tease in a lighthearted way. He could always be counted on to provide a smile or joke, especially when we needed it most.
He is survived by his mother, Josephine; seven siblings, Michael (Lisa) Switlick of Punxsutawney, Karen (Joe) Balia of Jamestown, New York, Sharon (Steve) Shawver of McVaytown, Kathy Senior of DuBois, Sandra (Tim) Burkett of Punxsutawney and Susan (Gregg) Hoover of Bradford, Tim (Heather) Switlick of Oliveburg; sister in-law Tami Olexy of Punxsutawney; numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his father, Charles, brother, Jeffrey Olexy, and dear cat, Klanzi.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m, Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney. A funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Doug Wolfe.
Interment will be private at Fairview Cemetery, Indiana County.
Memorial donations may be made in Scott's memory to any local humane society.
