Scott Tharp Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Robarts Family Funeral Home - Wauchula Chapel on Jan. 6, 2026.
It is with deep sorrow that we say goodbye to a devoted husband, loving father, faithful

pastor, and cherished friend. Scott Frederick Tharp entered the presence of the Lord on

January 5, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and leadership that will endure

for generations.

Born on September 20, 1972, in Westerville, Ohio, Scott lived a life marked by

unwavering commitment to his faith and his family. He dedicated his life to ministry,

most recently at First Baptist Church of Bowling Green, Florida, shepherding his

congregation with humility and devotion. His voice carried encouragement, his deeds

embodied the love of Christ, and through his guidance, many found their way to a

deeper faith.

Scott was not only a man of faith but a servant leader, too. His vision and courage

touched lives far beyond his immediate circle, leaving an indelible mark on communities

he served regionally, and in Ecuador, Argentina, Nicaragua, Mexico, Spain, France,

Haiti and more.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick "Zeke" and Ruth Tharp.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Kristy Kay Tharp, his three lovely daughters,

Sharon, Ashley, and Alondra, his brothers Mike (Chippy) Tharp and Tim (Tammy) Tharp,

and his nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Scott Tharp Memorial Scholarship

through Send Me Missions in Wauchula, Florida.

A Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church of Bowling Green, Florida Saturday, January 17, 2026 @ 2:00 P.M. followed by funeral Services @ 3:00 P.M.

Though our hearts ache with loss, we rejoice in knowing that Scott has fought the good

fight, finished the race, and kept the faith. His life was a testament to God's grace, and

his legacy will live on in the lives he touched. If you would like to contact the church email address provided - [email protected]

Kristy, you and Scott have always been so dear to me. Even when separated by distance we could always "pick up where we left off" when we were able to see each other-so very many great memories of times together. I will always hold you and "Squat Tarp" close in my heart. God bless you and the girls as He helps you adjust to your new normal. As always, I´m just a phone call away. I love you.

Dear Kristy,
Though we have been separated for a number of years, you have always been and are in (our) my heart and especially now. As you and Scott have known and practiced, God never abandons us even in the times of our most profound sorrow and anguish. May you and your girls find the true comfort and strength of the Holy Spirit´s presence. I send my heartfelt love, "Uncle" Bob

My deepest condolences to Christy and the girls. Scott was a special pastor to me and I appreciate him teasing and helping me be brave going up to start the chapel service at Pioneer Creek when I filled in. Much love and prayers with his family. Sandy Walker

We remember Pastor Scott from the time he lead worship services at Pioneer Creek RV Park. So personable that He accomplished his goal of learning all our names. He lead through the Holy Spirit with a great sense of humor. He was a wonderful chapel pastor!
