June 29, 1960 -Jan 3, 2026
Scott W Young was born June 29, 1960 in Fruita Colorado to Edith Harvey
and Richard Washburn Young. He Passed away Jan 3, 2026 in Grand
Junction Colorado.
The W in his name stands for William, Waldo, Washburn representing 3
grandparents.
Scott loved being a part of the WR Young Cattle Co along with his cousin,
John, in the small community of New Liberty Colorado. He attended Loma
Elementary, Fruita Jr high and graduated in 1978 from Fruita Monument
High. He attended Mesa College, and Ricks College earning an Associate's
Degree in Electronics, and later attended the USU extension in Blanding.
He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in
Jacksonville Florida.
He married Shela Bacon and they were blessed with 2 sons, Nicholas Scott
and William Richard. This marriage did not last and Scott came to live in
Blanding, a community he has loved. You may have seen him in one of the
renowned 4 th of July melodramas. He loved being a part and treasured his
association with his fellow thespians.
He spent many hours in exploration of the wild beautiful land of San Juan
County, whether as a census taker, a passionate geocacher, collecting
rocks for his landscaping or just on an adventure.
Another thing he loved was being involved with special Olympics with his
son, Nick. Sadly, Nick passed away in 2012. Scott continued his
involvement for many years.
He had a special friend Susan Raiser. They were married for a short time,
but realized it was better for them to just be friends.
He enjoyed being on the staff of USU extension in the computer lab and
merchandising for Front Line where his son Will often worked as his
assistant.
Other loves were singing in the Ward Choir, serving as a Temple
Missionary, and ministering to his families.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, his brother, Ricky and his son
Nick.
He is survived by his son, William, 5 sisters and their spouses: Nate and
John Westwood, Neta and Robert Palfreyman, Becky and Devon Olson,
Kathy and Kent Roper, Helen and Randy Weeks, and his many adoring
nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Our deepest sympathy to Scott's family. We went to high school with Scott. He's a great guy. We were able to visit with him at the reunion a couple of years ago. He will be missed. Larry and Dana Morrison
