A sad day in my family as my big brother, Sean Gwin passed away suddenly this morning. He went out on his own terms, at deer camp no less.
We laughed about his Duck Dynasty Covid beard as we talked just a couple days ago on his way to one of his favorite activities.
I looked up to him all my life as a strong man, a good husband to his wife Karen Gwin and a proud Dad to his daughter, my God daughter, Paige Gwin. He could never stop talking about his pride as a father and all the memories he made with her.
Memories flood me like an avalanche of all the things we did. Baseball, Schwinn bikes, go carts and his 72 Nova growing up in Glenview. An avid sportsman, we fished together on countless trips across the country. His pig roasts were legendary, his turkey fryer shooting flaming Roman candle grease balls into the air, countless concerts, vacations, camping, bars, cruise lines and houseboats. So many stories, memories and family get togethers with a loud and boisterous Gwin family. Above all, a big teddy bear and a generous man who would give you the shirt off his back.
My heart aches as does all of our family.
I love you brother.
So do me this favor and call your family. More often. Tell them you love them. Make those memories that you can treasure forever. In the end, it's all we have in this world.
I have plenty of joyful memories to call on. I just wish for more as we never have enough time.
Sean, go take care of Honey and Dad and our brother Jim and all those we have loved and lost.
I love you!
