Sebastiano "Nuccio" Basilisco

Nuccio was a very cool cousin. Although he and I didn't agree on certain things, I could say that Nuccio was somebody loved by many and very easy going. Yeah, I remember when he, his sister (Cousin Rosa), and his parents (Uncle Carmelo and Aunt Lucia) came over our house on Jenny Drive in Warren, Mich. I could tell that with Nuccio's charisma, he was going places. RIP Nuccio, you were one of my best cousins and plan to see you later on the other side in Heaven.

I have tears. He was so alive and a joy always. I will call on his spirit when I require great joy and a beautiful smile. We did not stay in contact in the usual ways but please know you have always been in my heart as one of the most inspiring people I have known. I know you are resting in the arms of the angels... (and, hopefully you will send a little of that back because we need it right now....)

So very sorry for your Loss

We met as kids on the sidewalks in front of our homes in Detroit. He was new to America and couldn't speak a lick of English and we tangled often as 5 years olds do. My family moved to the suburbs to escape the changing city and we met again. This time his English had improved and so had his family's quality of life. They were working hard and moving up. We met again in high school. Nuccio, or Sebastian, as he was known by then, was the friendliest and most popular guy in school. Everyone knew him. His family had made it. I would think of him often and describe his family as the perfect example of what hard work and dedication can do. They came here as strangers to our country, assimilated and carved out the American dream. Rest in Peace Sebastian.

I know that Sebastiano was very much loved and respected by his cousin Joe Battaglia. Joe and I have been friends for many years and Joe has often spoken lovingly of Sebastiano. Please know that he and his whole family are in my prayers. For those blessed enough to have known him well, you now have an angel looking down on you.
