In Loving Memory of Semhar

Semhar was born on March 1, 1988, in Lamza, Eritrea. She completed her primary and secondary education between 1993 and 2001. Semhar later continued her studies at Hammelmalo, where she studied for three years, and graduated with a Diploma in Agriculture in 2005. In 2006, Semhar graduated from Taalim Sawa Station, preparing for a career in Himbol Dhrimimdaba.

In 2009, Semhar traveled to Sudan, seeking a better way of life, as many Eritreans have done. In August 2012, she arrived in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, where Semhar built a new life. She spent six years teaching, dedicating herself to education and service. In 2020, Semhar was ordained to the Eucharist. Semhar was a devoted mother of two children.

On December 28, 2025, at 1:15 a.m., Semhar passed away after being taken to the hospital following a sudden illness due to cancer. She departed this life peacefully and is now placed at the right hand of the Holy Father Abraham Isaac.

Semhar will be remembered for her strength, faith, dedication to learning and teaching, and her deep love for her children and community. May her soul rest in eternal peace.

Funeral Rite will be held for Semhar at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at St Michael's Eritrean Orthodox Church, 235 - 8 Street NE, Calgary, Alberta. Interment will follow at Rocky View Garden of Peace Cemetery, 243208 Garden Road NE, Calgary, Alberta.
