Serapio Gonzales

Serapio N. Gonzales, born in Morenci, Arizona November 8, 1948 went to be with our Lord November 14, 2025 at the age of 77.
Growing up in Clifton, Arizona, Serapio had a passion for sports and excelled in baseball. He graduated from Clifton High School in 1966, playing ball where he was able to continue his education and love of playing the game. He worked in Morenci for Phelps Dodge Corp while living in Morenci for 14 years before moving to Tucson, eventually retiring from Raytheon Missile Systems. After retirement, he loved to visit family and friends; often telling stories of growing up in Clifton and Morenci. He also loved his Catholic Faith and St. Rose of Lima Parish Community. Serapio loved his children and was able to see all three of them the day of his passing.
He is survived by: his children, Michelle (Andres), Michael (Leandra), Matthew (Venessa); his grandchildren, Jesse, Nicole and Matthew Jr; great-grandson, Santiago; sister, Mary Sonive and brother, Max Gonzales. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Leonardo and Martina; sister, Candelaria; brothers, Leonard, Joe, Martin, Armando, and David.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Serapio will be conducted Friday, December 5, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Safford. A committal will follow in the Safford Cemetery.
A eulogy will be offered Friday, December 5, 2025 at 10:00 a.m., followed by a rosary and offering of prayers at 10:30 a.m., also at the church. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Serapio, please visit our floral store.
