Sergio "Checo" Rodriguez

Sergio "Checo" Rodriguez, 75, joined our Lord in His heavenly kingdom on Sunday, June 9, 2024.

Sergio A. Rodríguez (Checo) was born to Pablo and Leonor Rodriguez on May 18, 1949 in Nuevo Laredo, Tamps. He moved to Laredo, Texas at the age of 17 to pursue his dream of studying in a university and making a living in the United States.

Upon graduating from high school in 1967 he went on to college receiving his Bachelor of Business Administration from St. Edward's University in 1972.

He was always so proud of his journey to become an educated man and created the life he envisioned for himself. His forte was in construction. He became a real estate broker in 1976 and the rest of his work has become a legend. He established Bilt Best Builders, his own company in 1984 and became an aspiring entrepreneur. He was the best at putting plans together and executing them. No project was too big. He ran alongside most of the booming construction companies in the 80s and 90s in Laredo.

There was nothing more that he could have enjoyed than developing land and building homes to fill them with families. He took on the commercial field a little later in his career as well and quickly grew fond of those adventures.

He made a fascinating connection with almost everyone he came across and his charisma help lift more spirits than one can imagine.

He loved to snow ski, hang out with his family, compadres, and the history channel. His positive outlook on life and his nurturing ways will always be remembered. His witty personality was one big reason for many of our smiles'. He will be forever cherished and truly missed by us all.

He was preceded in death by his son, Sergio A. Rodriguez, Jr.; his parents, Pablo M. and Leonor Rodriguez; his siblings, Oscar E. Rodriguez, Norma Montgomery, and Pablito Luis Rodriguez.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Armando (Selina) Rodriguez, and Cordelia (Jorge Andres) Diaz; daughter-in-law, Viola M. Rodriguez; his grandchildren, Victoriali Rodriguez, Ariella Rodriguez, Tanni Rodriguez, Andrea Rodriguez, Armando Rodriguez, II., Regina Diaz, Daniela Diaz, and MariaJose Diaz; his sister, Leonor Rodriguez; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday evening, June 15, 2024 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Joe Jackson North Funeral Chapels & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.; where a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary will commence at 6:30 p.m.
