Sergio T. De La Cruz of Uvalde, passed away July 20, 2024 in Houston, Tx. at the age of 60.
He was born on August 12, 1963 in Leon, Gto., MX to Anastacio De La Cruz and Maria Cruz Tavares.
He is survived by his mother Maria Cruz Tavares of Leon, Gto. and father Anastacio De La Cruz of San Antonio, Tx. His wife, Silvia G. De La Cruz of Uvalde, Tx., daughter Petrice E. De La Cruz of Spring, Tx., son Sergio G. De La Cruz and wife Vanessa of Pearland, Tx.; sister, Beatriz Rodriguez and husband Jaime; sister, Aracely Ramirez and husband Carlos Alberto; sister, Mariana Lopez and husband Alejandro; sister-in-law, Gaby De La Cruz all of Leon, Gto, Mexico; brother, Jose Luis De La Cruz and wife Karla of Uvalde, Tx.; brother, Armando De La Cruz and wife Angelica; brothers, Victor De La Cruz, Alejandro De La Cruz, and Juan Antonio De La Cruz all of Leon, Gto.; 3 grandchildren, Benjamin, Cristian and Olivia De La Cruz of Pearland, Tx.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Tomasa Gutierrez and brother, Ignacio De La Cruz.
Sergio had a life-long passion for soccer, especially for his hometown team of Leon, Gto. He enjoyed both playing and watching the sport year round. He was an avid reader and a whiz at anything geography related. He loved to listen to music and was known to always step out on the dance floor. He was very personable, fun loving, and the life of the party. His pride and joy were his two children, and later on his three grandchildren who referred to him as “Coco.”
Visitation will begin on July 25, 2024 at 2pm, followed by a rosary and prayer service at 7:00 pm at Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary. A funeral mass will be held Friday, July 26, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be at Hillcrest cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Sergio G. De La Cruz, Jonathan Garcia, Gabriel Garcia, Kyle Smith, Manny Gonzalez, and Chris Olivarez.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jose Luis and Diogo De La Cruz.
