Setsuko (Tojo) La Make Age 93
With hearts full of love and gratitude, we share the passing of Setsuko (Tojo) La Make, 93, a retired business owner whose strength, grace, and gentle spirit touched everyone who had the blessing of knowing her. She passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 3rd, 2025, surrounded by her devoted family.
Born in Tokyo, Japan, Setsuko was the cherished daughter of Seiichi and Yoshi (Yoshida) Tojo, who instilled in her a quiet resilience and deep appreciation for life's simple joys. She later built a beautiful life in the United States with her beloved husband, the late William J. La Make.
Setsuko was the deeply loved mother of Patricia S Myers (Gary) and Ann-Marie Howell (Guy), who will forever hold her close to their hearts. She was "Grammy" in the truest and most joyful sense of the word – showering Shane (Kristen), Sarah, Miranda, Halley, Dylan, and Joseph with encouragement, pride, and boundless affection. She often reminded them to "Get Smart", a playful guiding phrase they will carry with them always. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Maia, Elijah, and Mason, who brought her endless joy.
She will be remembered for her kindness, her soft laughter, her steadfast devotion to family, and the quiet strength that guided her through life. Her presence was a gift, and her memory will remain a blessing.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, December 13th, at 9:00 AM from Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave, Warwick Rhode Island. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 AM at St. Kevin Church, Sandy Lane, Warwick.
She will be laid to rest beside her husband in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston, reunited in eternal peace.
Visitation: Family and friends are invited to gather and pay their respects on Friday, December 12th, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
