Preceding him in death were his father, John Sr.; his mother, Leola Alexander; his brothers, John Jr. and Travis; his sisters, Margie and Marilyn; and his wife, Renate.
He is survived by his brothers, James and Oscar; his son, Anthony, along with Anthony's son, Marquis, and daughters, Imani and Eunique; his daughter, Jessica; his son, Edward Jr., and his wife, Angela, and their three sons, Max, Travis, and William; and his granddaughter, Alexis, along with her parents, Toaiva and Michael.
