Dr. Sham Lal Gupta M.D.

Dr. Sham Lal Gupta March 10, 1944 ~ August 12, 2013 A graduate of the University of New Delhi Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi, India, Dr. Gupta completed his residency at Wayne State University Affliated Hospitals, Detroit and had a rotating internship at the Grand Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio. He was certified by the American Board of Surgery. Dr. Gupta also held memberships in: Fellow of American College of Surgeons, Fellow of International College of Surgeons, Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Surgeons, (S.A.G.E.), Mid-West Surgical Associates, American Society of General Surgeons, and Wayne State Medical Society. Dr. Gupta held numerous current and past appointments: Chief of Surgery, Oakwood Southshore Hospital; Chief of Staff, Oakwood Southshore Hospital; and Chairman Quality Council, Oakland Southshore Surgical Department. Dr. Gupta loved collecting fine art and educating his family regarding fine arts. He helped, inspired and motivated many family members and friends to reach their highest potential. He loved caring for all his patients and others in need. Loving and dedicated husband of Kristine, and father of Renu Yonkoski (Blair Yonkoski), Jonathan Gupta, Andrew Gupta, Stephanie Gupta, Aimee Gupta and Emilie Gupta. Grandfather of two. Brother of Moti Lal Gupta, Meenu Singal, Asha Singla and Kiran Aggarwal. Also survived by many loving friends and family. He will be missed by all. The Funeral Service will be Saturday, August 17, 2013 - 10 a.m. at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, 2600 Crooks Road, Troy (Between Maple & Big Beaver), 248-362-2500. The family will receive friends Friday, August 16, from 2-8 p.m. with Sharing of Memories at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
