Passed peacefully at home, surrounded by family, at the age of 88. A devoted husband, proud father, and loyal friend, Shamus lived a full life marked by laughter and friendship. Born in the City of Buffalo, Shamus shared 59 loving years of marriage with his wife, Christine O'Connor (née Pasherb). He is survived by his wife, brother Bob (late wife Beth), sons, Kevin (wife Kamille) and Michael (wife Kimberly); his three grandchildren, Heather, Grayson, and Quinn; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ron and Liz Jaworski, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jim and Sylvia Rydnicki and many nieces and nephews who will fondly remember his warmth and steady presence. He was preceded in death by his brothers Charles, Kevin (and wife Ester), and Gary (and wife Louise). A graduate of Cleveland Hills High School, Shamus was inducted into the school's Hall of Fame as Sportsman of the Year. He later attended the University of Buffalo. A long time Buffalo Bills and Sabres season ticket holder, Shamus rarely missed a game. After retirement, he enjoyed more than 20 years as a New York–Florida snowbird. His favorite pastimes included golfing with family and friends, playing cribbage, traveling, and socializing with lifelong friends, especially at the Bison City Rod & Gun Club. Shamus will be remembered for his loyalty, easygoing charm, and the joy he found in good company. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
