Shandi Bruce

Shandi Beth Bruce, 36, of San Diego, CA, passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at her home.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 22, at Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield, SD. Family will be present to accept condolences. A time of sharing will follow at 7:00 p.m.
Her funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 23, at Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield. Pastor Micah Westby will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield.

For friends and family in California who are unable to attend services in South Dakota, a memorial will be held in San Diego in the weeks to come. Details are pending and will be shared once finalized.

Shandi Beth Bruce was born June 29, 1986, in Mitchell, SD to Larry Roberts and Linda (Doty) Bruce. She spent the first few years living with her mom in various parts of the U.S., relocating to Redfield, SD in 1990. Shortly after, James Bruce entered her life and later adopted Shandi as her loving father. Shandi spent the remainder of her childhood attending Redfield Public School, where she was active in many activities, including Cheerleading, Band, Chorus, Cross Country, and Track and worked at the local Dairy Queen and Pizza Hut until she graduated in 2004.
Following graduation, Shandi entered basic training with the SD National Guard and was later discharged for medical reasons. Shortly following, she pursued her adventurous ways and relocated to California, where she later married her high school sweetheart Anthony "Tony" Ford. She remained in California following her divorce from Tony, where she continued to be the life of the party, finding new friends, and adventuring in different capacities. Through these adventures, she met Tony Pallone, who she dated for several years until her passing. The love Tony and Shandi had was impalpable. Shandi worked closely to help manage Tony's local bar in San Diego, where she thrived on planning big events and bringing people of all walks of life together.
Shandi was known for her adventurous spirit, her loving and caring demeanor, she loved to travel, loved golf, sports of all kinds and was an avid Vikings, Celtics, and Giants fan. She loved her niece and nephews and was always willing to give you the shirt off her back. Shandi will be remembered for her beautiful smile, big personality, and the way she loved hard. Wherever she went she made friends and had an impact on someone's life. She will be greatly missed by so many.
She's survived by her mother Linda (Doty) Bruce, of Redfield, SD; father James Bruce of Yankton, SD; biological father Larry Roberts of Wichita, KS; significant other Tony Pallone of San Diego; sister Sierra (Haesung) Yang and their three boys Ayden, Carter, and Lincoln of Minneapolis, MN; brother Briston (Lillie) Bruce and their children Natalie, Liam, Benjamin, and David of Aberdeen, SD; brother Brandon Bruce of Brookings, SD; along with her surviving grandparents: William "Bill" and Pauline "Polly" Bruce, Linda Roberts; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved her dearly. Shandi is also survived by her beloved dog, Prince Louie.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents: John and Shirley Doty, John Roberts; uncles: Randy Doty, Bob Doty, and Gene Doty; and Aunt Linda Lutter.
