Shannon J. Benton, a beloved daughter, sister, and friend, passed away on November 20, 2025. Born on December 30, 1969, Shannon grew into a bright, compassionate woman whose warmth touched everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her mother, Karen Parker, her stepfather Fred Parker, her brothers Heath Parker and Brian Benton, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many dear friends. Each will carry forward memories of her kindness, humor, and generous spirit.

Shannon graduated from Lower Richland High School in 1987 and later fulfilled a longtime dream by earning her RN degree in 2014. Her natural empathy and big heart made nursing not just a career but a calling. She especially loved working with the elderly.

Shannon also spent many years working in the glass industry. Her blend of clerical expertise and hands-on understanding made her an invaluable part of every team with which she worked. She approached every challenge with confidence, grace, and a work ethic that inspired those around her. Known for her loyalty, she formed lasting friendships throughout the industry.

An avid reader, Shannon's love of the written word was constant-she could even be found reading the back of a cereal box during breakfast. She had a remarkable ability to find joy in small moments and to share that joy with the people in her life.

Shannon had a deep passion for animals, especially dogs. She often said she wished she could rescue every dog in every shelter in the world, and her love for her own dog, Skit, was boundless.

Those who knew Shannon will remember her as a smart, funny, and kindhearted soul-someone who was always there for any friend in need and who loved fiercely.

Honoring Shannon's wish to keep things free of sadness, no formal service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family invites those who wish to remember her to make a donation to Final Victory Animal Shelter (919 N Lucas St, West Columbia, SC 29169), a cause close to her heart.

Shannon will be remembered with love to the moon and back!
