Shannon Dakota Hand-Maddox, age 22, of Baxley, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2024 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Shannon was born December 27, 2001 in Appling County and was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Appling County High School Class of 2021, where she played the Xylophone and Clarinet for the Appling County Pirate Brigade. Shannon was employed by Circle K as a cashier and was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Wayne Maddox; grandmother, Bonnie Marie Meeks, and sister-in-love, Addie Hayes.
Survivors include her son, Lukas James Maddox-Sapp of Baxley; mother, Mandy (Neil) Carter of Baxley; sisters, Savannah Maddox (Ashley Lewis), Kayla (Josh) Giddens and Jennifer (Tyler) Stone all of Baxley and Mikayla Carter of Arlington, VA; brothers, Dylan (Brandi) Maddox of Springfield, Robbie Linam of Thomasville, and Jon Carter of Hazlehurst; grandparents, Linda Baxley of Baxley, Howard & Vernell Maddox of Douglas, and John & Pam Hand of Uvalda; great grandmother, Genella Baxley of Hazlehurst; aunts & uncles, Tara (Waylon) Slaughter, Brittany Rewis (Lou Manning), Delbert Maddox (Kristie Smith), Dustin (Jessica) Maddox, Jon Ross (Gracey) Hand, Lexi Hand (Steven Hurst), Paul (Lavenna) Meeks, and Robert Linam; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 31, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Daniels and Tony Rowell officiating.
Active pallbearers will be Jonathon (J. D.) Carter, Dylan Maddox, Robbie Linam, Jacob Maddox, Jonathan Meeks, Colby Meeks, and Nick Meeks.
Honorary pallbearers will be the A.C.H.S. Class of 2021, Appling County Pirate Brigade, Shonda Giddens, Jonathan Hickox, Jessie Caulson, and the staff of Circle K.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
