Shannon Smiley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Midwest Cremation & Funeral Services, LLC - Springfield on Dec. 3, 2025.
Shannon Lynn Andrew Smiley, age 49, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on November 29, 2025, at Cox South Hospital due to complications from blood clots in his lungs.

Born in Springfield on September 20, 1976, Shannon was the beloved son of Bobie Wilcox. He grew up surrounded by family and friends who knew him as a spirited, genuine soul with a heart that was always open to others.

Shannon was preceded in death by his mother, Bobie Wilcox, and by Janelle Green, the mother of his daughter Marrissa. He is survived by his siblings-Micky Smiley, Tammy Smiley, Jeannia Hall, and Joey Smiley-as well as his four children: Andrew, Dayton, Marrissa, and Athena Smiley. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and countless friends who will cherish his memory.

Those who knew Shannon remember him as a man who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He was kind, loyal, and full of life. In his younger years, he carried a mischievous streak-the "bad boy" with a smile-but he grew into a devoted father and friend, always ready to lend a hand or share a laugh.

At just 16, Shannon met Angela Sapp, with whom he shared 15 years and welcomed his sons, Andrew and Dayton. Later, he built a life with Janelle Green and celebrated the birth of his daughter, Marrissa. After Janelle's passing, Shannon found companionship with Kayla, and together they welcomed his youngest daughter, Athena.

Shannon's warmth, humor, and easygoing nature made him the "cool cat" of his circle. His presence brought joy, and his absence will leave a lasting ache in the hearts of all who loved him.

Gone too soon, Shannon will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
