Shannon Lee Stone, 60, of Fredericksburg, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at VCU Medical Center in Richmond surrounded by family after an eight-year battle with leukemia.
Shannon was born in Newport News on October 14, 1965, the second of three children to Frankie Lee Stone and Madgalene Horton Healy. He was a third-generation carpenter, going on to co-found Agape Construction Company in 1992.
On June 8, 1997, he was wed to Wendy Kendall Stone at the Virginia Renaissance Faire in Stafford County. With her, he raised five children, James (Kayla), Joshua (Jill), Nathan, and Mason Crabtree, and Rebekah Stone (Joshua Collings). He was also a loving Pop-Pop to six grandchildren, Jerimiah, Chelsea, Jackson, Wyatt, and Palmer Crabtree, and Alexis Lyons. He enjoyed the love of a wide extended family, including the McCulloughs, with whom he spent many holidays.
Shannon was an ordained minister and former student of the Fredericksburg Bible Institute and Seminary. He delighted in the opportunity to officiate the wedding of his son, Joshua Crabtree, to Jill McCullough in 2015.
He was a lover of music, relishing the opportunity to crank the stereo, jump behind his drum set, or put together a tune with his cousin, Doyle Stone.
In addition to his wife, children, and grandchildren, survivors include his mother, Madgalene Healy and step-father, Patrick Healy; sisters, Lisa Stone Reagan (Keith) and Angela Kepus; step-siblings, Sherry Childress Piemontesi (David), Joseph Childress (Mildred), and Gerald Childress (Kendall); and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews across Virginia, North Carolina, and Florida.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frankie Lee Stone and step-mother, Carol Childress Stone; and step-sister, Elizabeth "Katie" Childress Armstrong.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Common Ground Christian Church (1501 Washington Avenue,
