Sharon Kay Blankemeyer, 81 of Dakota City passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2024. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City. Visitation will be Friday, December 20, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. with a time of remembrance at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Dakota City Cemetery.
Sharon was born the daughter of Lloyd and Edna (Gray) Benson on September 27, 1943 in Onawa, Iowa. She graduated from Onawa High School. Sharon met Kurt Blankemeyer when he was in the states visiting from Germany in 1961. He never left. They were married on November 5, 1966. They farmed outside of Jackson, Nebraska for many years before moving to Dakota City.
Sharon was a bookkeeper in her younger years. She was a wonderful homemaker and a devoted mother to her four children. She started Special Teas tea room in 2011. She loved to host gatherings and enjoyed decorating her tea room for each season.
In her retirement, Sharon and Kurt enjoyed traveling Germany and Europe. She also enjoyed time with her grandchildren and tending to her flower garden.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Kurt; children, Matthew Scott (Lana), Brigitte (Adam), Megan (Andy), and Brittany; grandchildren, Zac, Jaxon, Malaki, Clorinda, Kendon, Tryton, Amma, Braelyn, Bentlee, Londyn, and Liam; and sisters, Vickie (Gary) and Deb (Bob).
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Lonnie, Elaine, and Ardith; and grandson, Jacik.
