Death Notice

Sharon I. Botkin

1940 - 2024

Sharon (Sherrie) Botkin aged 83 passed away on February 6th, 2024 at her home in Crown Point.
Sherrie was married for 64 years to her husband Jerry. Together they raised a family of 5 children, 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Sherrie was a beautiful woman inside and out with an abundance of love for her family and pets including many cats especially her beloved, Aurora. Family was at the core of her heart and as the oldest of nine children, she helped with her younger siblings, raised her own 5 children, cared for many nieces and nephews over the years and enthusiastically took on the role as a second mother to her grandsons Remington and Orion.
With an eye for style, she created several warm and lovely homes that many remember fondly in particular young ones who loved visiting her cats. Her Leo sign shown in abundance being fearless since childhood, be it roller skating down a steep slide, hopping into a helicopter with a K-9 unit at camp, climbing mountains in Colorado or white water rafting. Sherrie was an avid reader and could spend the day happily curled up with a book in her sunroom overlooking the lake.
On top of her family care, she found time to volunteer with a crisis hot line, assisting at Miss Shirley's Dance Studio, sales at Carson Pirie Scott and banking adventures across the country with only her mother Edith and a road map. Her presence lit up a room with a flair for style and a warm smile, she will be greatly missed by those fortunate enough to have known her. She is reunited in our hearts with her beloved daughter and best friend Brianna White.
Sherrie was an advocate for animal rights and environmental issues.
