Sharon Butaud Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Broussard's Mortuary - Major Drive on Sep. 4, 2023.
Sharon Sue Butaud, of Beaumont, died on August 31, 2023, with Father Khue and friends by her side at 84. She was born May 2, 1939, in Lafayette, Louisiana, and her family moved to Beaumont at an early age. She attended South Park Schools and graduated from South Park High School in 1957, where she was an excellent student and a member of the Greenie Band. Sharon attended Lamar University and graduated with a Bachelor in Business Administration degree. Sharon was a devout Catholic until her ability to attend mass was impaired by her health. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Catholic faith was instrumental part of Sharon's entire life.
Her first job was with Texaco and after twelve years left to work with other mid-continent producers as a Landman, Lease Specialist, and Lease Analyst. Sharon had a huge heart for her four legged friends and would always take in and render aid to any distressed dog or cat and even a horse or two. This passion for animals was truthful until her last days, as she always asked about her dogs and horse, Houston.
She is preceded in death by her father, Robert and mother, Lavaughn Butaud.
Survivors include her dearest friend, Shelly Haynes, whom Sharon expressed many times over she was her adopted daughter; Her thirty-six-year neighbor, Denise Kenebrew; friends, Bea Lopez, Phyllis Wheeler and Joy Hillin; and her cousins in Louisiana. A gracious thank you for Gentiva Hospice and the compassion of the staff at Jefferson Nursing Home in their aid to Sharon until the end.
A Rosary will be recited at 12:30 p.m., with Ms. Butaud's funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m., Friday, September 8, 2023, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1115 Orange Street, Beaumont, Texas 77701 or to the Humane Society of Southeast Texas, 2050 Spindletop Avenue, Beaumont, Texas 77705.
