Sharon G. (Henderson) Carter
Sharon G. (Henderson) Carter, 84 of Elm Creek, Nebraska passed away on March 7, 2024 in Omaha, surrounded by her loved ones. Sharon's celebration of life will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 24th, 2024 at The Village of Elm Creek in Elm Creek, Nebraska.
She was born April 11, 1939 in Elm Creek to Curtis and Della (Monk) Henderson. Sharon spent most of her childhood growing up in Elm Creek, Nebraska. In later years, she lived in Hartington, NE, Hutchinson, KS and Mission, TX, returning to Elm Creek for the past few years.
Sharon was a child of God and loved her family dearly. She was active in cheerleading, volleyball and softball in school. She loved to swim and enjoyed a good book to read. Though her abilities and talents were almost endless, she was a Cosmetologist and owned Shary's Salon, a Jailer, a Police officer, and even a Bus driver to name a few. She loved all her dogs she had through the years. She bred yorkies and poodles for some of the time she and Walt lived in Hutchinson. She also took great pride in her amazing crocheting. She tried to make all of her grandkids, great grands and great great grands all afghan baby blankets through the years.
She enjoyed her retirement with Walt traveling and having all different adventures. They decided to work in Adventureland in Iowa where they had so much fun. They then headed their way to Yellowstone and worked there for a few seasons. Next, they were on their way to Mission Texas to be closer to Sharon's sister Judy and brother-in-law. Sharon was there until Walt's passing. She then relocated back to Elm Creek to be closer to family.
In her recent years she enjoyed thrifting on weekends with family and spending time with her companion Sweetpea, having a nice cold Pepsi and crocheting all different creations to pass her free time. In the past year we had finally convinced her to make herself her own Afghan. It was absolutely beautiful!
She is survived by daughters: Kim (Rick) Turner, Tracy Dirks of Elm Creek, NE; Marcy (Craig) Schulte of Hartington, NE and Shannon Conner of Hutchinson, KS. 15 Grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Sister, Judith (David) Stubbs of Misson, TX. Several nieces and nephews. Her very best friend and companion Sweetpea.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, son Douglas Gale, husbands; Charles Gale, Bernard Hasbrouck and Walter Carter. Sisters; Janice Trimble and Annette Bemiss. Brother-in-laws, Jerry Trimble and Terry Bemiss.
