Sharon Casson Obituary

Sharon Kaye Casson

October 24, 1956 - November 2, 2025

Sharon Kaye Casson was born in Bismarck, N.D., on October 24, 1956, to Rodney and Martha (Elizabeth) Williams. She attended and graduated from Wing High School in 1974.

In 1982, Sharon married Michael Keller, and together they had two children, James and Kayla. After their marriage ended, Sharon met the love of her life, James (Jim) Casson, and welcomed their son, Tyler. Sharon and Jim married in 1994.

Sharon came from a large, close-knit family of four brothers and two sisters, but she also built an even larger "chosen" family through her friendships. Many of these friendships lasted a lifetime; her children's friends became like her own children, and her home was always open for laughter, conversation, and the occasional Fireball toast after a Cornhuskers win.

Over the years, Sharon worked for Dial America, Lynman's Towing, Karl's Appliances, and Siouxland Federal Credit Union. She had a remarkable memory for people and faces-you could not go anywhere with her without her running into someone she knew. After chatting warmly with what others thought was a stranger, she would grin and say, "Oh, they were a member at the bank."

Family was everything to Sharon. She loved family grill-outs, attending her grandchildren's plays and concerts, and cheering on her family's accomplishments with pride. She also had a passion for travel-whether taking nieces and nephews on drives, returning home to North Dakota, road-tripping the West Coast with family, or going on a cruise with her daughter, she cherished every adventure. She was known for her home-cooked meals, her diamond-art creations, and her candid Facebook posts that left no doubt about where she stood on the issues.

Sharon was also deeply compassionate toward animals. She often said that if she ever won the lottery, she would buy a ranch for unwanted and abused animals. Her "fur babies" brought her joy throughout her life, especially her beloved Cassie and Brandi.

Sharon passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, November 2, 2025.

She is survived by her husband, Jim; her children, James Keller (Lacey Watson) of Dakota City, Neb., Kayla Keller of South Sioux City, Neb., and Tyler Casson of Lawton, Iowa; her grandchildren, Riley Watson, and Lilly Keller; her siblings, Ed Williams (Mary Madche), Jerry Williams (Dollyn), and Susan Green (Dave); and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rodney, and Elizabeth; her brothers, Donnie and Bob; her sister, Shirley; and her first husband, Michael Keller.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Sharon's life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service.
