Sharon Marie Doty

Sharon Marie Davis Doty, age 81, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2026, at Carolina Village in Hendersonville, North Carolina. Born on January 9, 1945, in Rome (Oneida County), New York, and growing up in Potsdam, New York, Sharon lived a life full of love, compassion, and dedication to both her family and community.

A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, Sharon's journey was marked by her unwavering commitment to others. Sharon received her Bachelor of Arts from SUNY College of Potsdam, receiving her teaching certificate in Education in Nursery, Kindergarten, and for Grades 1 through 6. She spent seven years of her professional life nurturing the minds of young students as an English teacher at Victor Junior High School, imparting lessons that went far beyond the classroom. Sharon also served as an insurance agent, demonstrating her versatility and dedication to providing security and peace of mind for her clients.

In retirement, Sharon continued her legacy of giving by volunteering as a classroom assistant at Bruce Drysdale Elementary School in Hendersonville, where her presence was a source of warmth and encouragement for both students and teachers alike. Her creative spirit shone through her passion for making "any occasion cards," which she shared generously with friends and family, brightening their days with her thoughtful and beautiful creations.

Sharon was a devout member of Grace Lutheran Church, where she found spiritual solace and a vibrant community that cherished her kindheartedness and faith.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Doty, who was her steadfast partner in life's journey; and her parents, Howard Leory Davis and Marion Harriet Avard Davis. Sharon leaves behind her loving family: her daughter, Donna Smith and her husband, Peter; her son, David Doty and his wife, Margaret; and her cherished grandchildren, Joshua Smith and Alyssa Smith, whose futures she eagerly supported and celebrated. She is also survived by her dear niece, Laurie Hansen and her husband, Dale; many extended nieces, nephews, and family members; and her devoted feline companion, Ellie.

A Memorial Service honoring Sharon's beautiful life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 20, 2026, at Grace Lutheran Church. Her family invites all who were touched by Sharon's kindness and generosity to join them in paying tribute to her remarkable life.
