Sharon Anne Hayes, 78, of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025.
Born on February 14, 1947, in Charleston, West Virginia, Sharon was the daughter of the late Wanda Jackson Dye and Rex Dye.
Married to the love of her life for 57 years, Sharon shared two daughters, Shelley and Jessie, and five grandchildren, Zane, Zachary, Logan, Chloe, and Essie, with her husband, Jim. She enjoyed camping and going to the beach with her family. Sharon was an animal lover and had numerous pets through the years, with the most recent addition being Ellie Mae, a rescue.
Sharon was a graduate of Herbert Hoover High School and Morris Harvey College, where she received a degree in elementary education. With more than 30 years of teaching experience, she served as a public school teacher in both West Virginia and South Carolina. She was honored as Teacher of the Year and Conservation Teacher of the Year. In addition to her years of service as an educator, Sharon started and ran the preschool program at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Pinch, West Virginia. She was also the pianist and organist at both St. Andrews and Peace Presbyterian churches. Well loved by her students, parents, and colleagues, Sharon made special connections with many throughout her years of teaching.
After retiring, Sharon used her creativity to begin making greeting cards. She received great joy from making and sending personalized cards. This card-making hobby was just another way for her to share her love and joy. Regardless of where she was or who she was with, Sharon had a way of making people feel comfortable and happy. Her love for life was contagious and reached countless individuals over the years.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Charles Dye.
Sharon is survived by her husband, James Hayes; her daughters, Shelley Matthews (Kim) and Jessica Bridges (Vick); and her five adoring grandchildren who proudly called her "Mawmaw", Zane Wilson, Zachary Hayes, Logan Bridges, Chloe Bridges, and Essie Bridges.
