Sharon Johnson Obituary
Alexander - Sharon Frances Johnson, 69, of Alexander, died Wednesday, September 3, 2025, with family at her side. She was born July 5, 1956, in Jacksonville, the daughter of James and Elizabeth "Betty" Hermes Sellers. She married Richard Frederick Johnson on August 28, 1976, at Church of Our Saviour in Jacksonville and he survives.
She is also survived by her children, Chris (Cindy) Johnson of Fishers, Indiana, Jeremy (Katie) Johnson of Glen Ellyn, and Amy (Clint) Nickel of Jacksonville; seven grandchildren, Ben and Charlie Johnson, Maxwell and Lucas Johnson, and Jade, Jameson, and Jagger Nickel; her mother, Betty Bourn of Jacksonville, her siblings, Dan (Mary Jo) Sellers, Pat (Laura) Sellers, Phil (Mary) Sellers, Pam Schierl, Jean (Frankie) Jackson, Gail Bartholomew, and Susan Hartley; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father in December of 1976.
Sharon was a devoted wife, adored mother and grandmother. She assisted her husband in their family's farm operation for many years. Her skills as a seamstress allowed her to be involved in the creation of countless wedding and prom dresses, as well as many alterations. She was a fabulous cook and excellent baker, known for her sugar cookies and highly decorated birthday cakes made for her children and grandchildren. Sharon was a devout member of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Alexander where she served on the Altar and Rosary Society, and pastoral and finance councils.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 8, 2025, at Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Alexander, with burial to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery near New Berlin. A prayer service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday at Williamson Funeral Home, after which the family will greet friends until 5 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church or Routt Catholic High School.
