Sharon Lee Miller Calbert died at home on August 9, 2022, at the age of 83.
Sharon was the daughter of Clell and Doris Fox Miller. She was raised in Utah in the towns of Mercur, Bonanza, Leota, and Eureka. These towns were small mining and farming towns, many of which are now ghost towns. This gave Sharon a unique perspective on life. When Sharon was asked about her favorite modern advancement from when she was a child, she would reply it was indoor plumbing. After beginning High School, she moved to a farm in Vernal, Utah. She moved to Wyoming in 1958 and then Southern California in 1964 before moving back to Utah in 1990. She was married twice, first to Glen Massey, then to Ernest Calbert.
Sharon had a calm and gentle nature. She didn't even yell when her son Kevin drove his car through her garage. She just chuckled and commented that he had forgotten to stop.
Sharon attended Snow College for one year before getting married in 1957. She graduated Cum Laude from Weber State University with a BS degree in Computer Information Systems. Sharon worked for American Express in Salt Lake City from 1994 until retiring in 2002.
Sharon was a member of the LDS church. She was baptized in the muddy Green River in Leota, Utah. She served in many church positions including Relief Society President, Young Women President, Primary President, Cub Scout Pack Leader and 10 years as a Gospel Doctrine teacher. She was also a member of DUP.
Sharon had many hobbies such as sewing projects making clothes, furniture slipcovers, curtains, drapes, quilts, and bedspreads; crochet projects making Afghans, tablecloths, and doilies; and knitting projects making sweaters and hats. Sharon's favorite holiday was Christmas, and it gave her great joy crafting various types of Christmas decorations and tree ornaments for herself and others. Her family and friends have enjoyed the many handmade gifts she gifted them over the years, and they will certainly continue to enjoy these special gifts for years to come.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Clell and Doris, and her brother Carl.
She is survived by her brothers Lynn and Keith; her children, Diane Brady, David Massey, and Kevin Calbert; and two grandchildren.
The Viewing will be held on August 14, 2022, at Leavitt's Mortuary, 836 36th Street Ogden UT, from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 27, 2022, from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at the LDS Church Pavilion, 5191 Old Post Road Ogden UT. There will be a short outside service at 11:00am, followed by a time to come together and remember Sharon's life. Casual Attire.
