Sharon "Sheri" Lee Brown Osterman, age 82, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025. Born September 10, 1943, Sheri was the oldest of three daughters of the late Robert and Eris (Gutzwiller) Brown, Jr. She was born in Indianapolis, but the family eventually settled in Brownstown, Indiana.
Sheri earned her teaching degree from Indiana University and her Master's in Education from University of North Caroline and taught early education for 42 years. She was one of the founding members of the Zion Lutheran Kindergarten program, which opened in 1974. "Mrs. O" taught at Zion Lutheran in Seymour, Grace Lutheran in Cincinnati, St. Peter's and Lutheran Central in Brownstown and returned to Zion to finish out her career.
She married Jerry Max Osterman on January 29, 1966, the coldest day of the winter. They lived in Seymour and moved to North Carolina where children Keri and Baron were born. They came back to Seymour where daughter Teri was born. Their next move took them to Lawrenceburg, Indiana where son Jordan was born and they eventually moved back to Seymour.
Sheri loved the bi-annual family beach vacations on Fripp Island in South Carolina with their children, grandchildren, her sisters and their families. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, known for spending hours wrapping presents with her sisters and mother and having the best bows on all her presents (and saving said bows and tissue paper to use again).
She is survived by her spouse of 60 years, Jerry Osterman and by her children Keri Brown, Baron (Colleen) Osterman, Teri (Mike) Kiel, and Jordan Osterman; grandchildren Megan (Peter) Schalk and Jason (Autumn) Amberger, Nick (Danielle), Kelsie, Bruce, and Max Osterman, Prader and Elleigh Kiel, and Knox Osterman along with 3 great-grandchildren Parker, Owen, and Wes, her two sisters Candy (Bill) Bevers and Kristie Graessle, sister-in-law Judy (Jim) Osterman VanOsdol and 8 nieces and nephews and their families, all whom she loved so very much.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Jacob Amberger, great-grandson Kai Amberger and nephew John VanOsdol.
